Tom O’Flaherty

survey team lead | SENIOR LICENSED CADASTRAL SURVEYOR

Never one to sit still long, Tom O’Flaherty has found his perfect work crew at Envelope.

Born in Whangarei, home of the mighty Taniwha, Tom grew up in Matakana. The values he holds to this day – the importance of hard work and taking pride in what you do – were instilled early on. The son of a surveyor firmly believes the adage “if a job’s worth doing, it’s worth doing well”.

Tom studied and trained in the deep south, at the Otago Survey School before spending 10 years on large scale infrastructure projects in New Zealand and overseas. With his return to his home country, he is keen to get back to his land development roots.

Often seen with one eye on the ocean, Envelope’s Mount office is the perfect spot for him to settle in.

Tom says he was drawn to Envelope by the company’s progressive vision and values, which  it lives by. A great working environment is a huge plus with someone always available for feedback, banter and a laugh (with or without a cold beer from the office tap on a Friday evening).

A self-confessed sports fanatic Tom loves the challenge of golf, with spearfishing his own special brand of meditation with the peacefulness and breath control involved.

Tom loves a well brewed craft beer or a single malt Scotch, depending on the occasion. Outside work you will most often find him outdoors: camping, travelling, or diving. And if he finds a crayfish to go with the craft beer, that pretty much equals Tom’s idea of a little piece of heaven.
